The purpose of the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce is to promote commerce and industry, to advance economic growth, and to enhance the quality of life in the city of Oakland.

The celebration of an anniversary takes on a special aura when the number before the word is 103.

The Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, founded on Nov. 17, 1905, challenged the business community then to actively participate in the growth and development of Oakland. Things are much the same today with a new challenge, to develop Oakland's infrastructure to accommodate thousands of new residents.

We see the opportunity to be part of this growth and development as very exciting. This new website provides more information than ever to keep you informed about public policy, economic development and the many events to train you, entertain you and aid you in building your business through relationships with the most successful businesses in
the region.

The Oakland Business Review, with some 15,000 readers, continues to provide articles about Oakland's oldest companies, our longest continuous-term members, tidbits and trivia about the last 101 years, and views of former chairmen and chairwomen.
